Emily mARTIN CREATIVE
Emily Martin, an American soprano and New England native, is a dynamic force in the performing arts. Her 30-year career spans roles as a professional opera singer, stage director, voice teacher, educator, vocologist, yoga instructor, entrepreneur, and arts leader. Celebrated for her "enchanting iridescence" (The Sarasota Herald-Tribune) and "dramatic energy and skill" (The Philadelphia Inquirer), Emily has graced opera houses and concert halls worldwide.
In 2020, she released Let Evening Come: American Songs Old and New on Albany Records, recognized by The Chicago Tribune as one of the "Best Classical Recordings of 2020." Her notable debuts include performances with The Santa Fe Opera (Peter Grimes) and Palm Beach Opera (Thaïs), among others. She has also appeared as a soloist with premier arts organizations, including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and performed recitals across London, Iceland, Australia, and New Zealand.
As a voice teacher and educator, Emily has been on the faculty at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and conducted masterclasses and residencies globally. An SVI-trained vocologist and registered yoga teacher, she helps singers reclaim flexibility and joy in their voices.
Emily’s creative impact extends beyond performance. She has directed and produced numerous opera projects and collaborated with contemporary composers to bring new works to life. In response to the global shutdown in 2020, she co-founded em2CONNECT, a consulting business redefining arts education and support. This initiative led her to be awarded a US Scholar Fulbright Award in The Netherlands (2022-2023), where she further developed her work supporting future artists.
Currently, Emily is the Ellen P. Williams Associate Professor of Music and Director of the Bucknell Voice Lab at Bucknell University. She is reshaping undergraduate music education by integrating wellness, entrepreneurship, non-traditional music, and community engagement into her curriculum.
Upcoming projects for the Fall of 2024 include teaching American Art Song at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam and a new multimedia music project with a second recording on Albany Records.
